The Arc Nature Coast

 The Arc Nature Coast was established in 1973 by a small group of citizens concerned with the lack of opportunities for individuals with Intellectual/Developmental disabilities. Prior to the 1970's the only state funded service for this population was institutionalization. At the time, Florida alone had 6 institutions with more than 2000 residents each. In 1973, The Arc acquired a 30 acre chicken farm in east Hernando County, where we have provided services ever since. We have grown from a grass roots organization to serving Hernando and Pasco counties from more than 20 staffed locations, including 4 Life Skills Development Programs. The Arc Nature Coast serves more than 280 individuals with disabilities and their families in Hernando and Pasco Counties. 

Some of the services we provide are; residential, enrichment, transportation, employment, daily life skills, Tumbleweeds Gardening and more.
