Who We Are
Whether you run your own business, work full time, are recently retired, or attending college, our volunteers come from all walks of life. But they all have one main thing in common: the desire to make a difference in the life of a child. Some prefer to volunteer just an hour a week; for others, time on the weekend may work better with your schedule.
Our Community-Based program allows you the opportunity to pick up your Little Brother or Little Sister at the child's home and spend time in the community. Outings can range from going for a walk, working on arts and crafts, taking a bike ride, or watching a sporting event. Remember, it's not the money you spend, but the time spent doing activities you both enjoy.
In our School-based program, volunteers meet with their Little Brother or Little Sister one hour a week at a near-by school or after-school site. We currently have our program at Spring Hill Elementary School.
What We Do
Our mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
We are always looking for volunteer mentors. 17 Children are waiting for a "Big" in Hernando County right now!
When children and teens have the influence of a caring adult, they are more likely to avoid risky behaviors and to focus on academics. Today's youth face a variety of challenges, and being matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister can help them navigate these challenges and reach their potential.
