Who We Are

The national and local organizations are made up of families, professionals in Mental Health and persons with a diagnosis. NAMI has national/state organizations and local affiliates in more than 1,100 communities across the country that focuses on three cornerstones of activity that offer hope, reform and health; Support, education & advocacy.

What We Do

NAMI Hernando's mission is to promote mental health wellness in our community through education, support, advocacy, empowerment and outreach. We tackle our mission by providing free education classes and presentations to all members of our community. We offer Individual Peer Support through our Beautiful Mind Center and C.A.R.E. Line for those with a mental health condition and their loved ones. We also offer six support groups every week for ongoing support. NAMI Hernando takes a grassroots approach to advocacy at both the state and local levels of government. We provide resource tools to those in need to empower them to seek the treatment they need and lead healthy productive lives. We also provide awareness through outreach events to educate the community and stop the stigma that keeps people from seeking treatment. Mental health affects every aspect of people’s lives and mental health wellness is essential to our community’s wellness.
