Who We Are

The Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired and Blind is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that serves people who are visually impaired and blind, and their families. The mission of the Lighthouse is to educate, empower, and employ people who are visually impaired and blind. We have provided residents of Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties with vision rehabilitation since 1983.

What We Do

Lighthouse provides no cost training programs and services to help Pasco, Hernando and Citrus residents develop the independent living skills needed so they can successfully adjust to vision loss at any age. Lighthouse programs and services include outreach, independent living skills, adjustment to vision loss (Passages), assistive technology, Braille, safe travel and support groups. We also offer Little Lighthouse for babies, educational programs for children, transition to adulthood for teens, job readiness for adults, and specially designed independent living skills programs for adults and seniors. Families and members of the community are also assisted with developing an understanding of how to help people who are visually impaired and blind maximize their independence.
