United Way of Hernando County (UWHC) is on a constant mission to invite community members as well as organizations to join the movement and pledge to LIVE UNITED. UWHC proudly invests in local Health, Education, Financial Stability, and Basic Needs/Crisis Prevention programs, as well as a multitude of in-house Community Impact programs here for our county.
UWHC works hard to balance the growing demand for basic services such as food, utility, and rent assistance, with our ongoing commitment to tackling the underlying causes of complex and seemingly intractable problems. Our support for long-term commitments are essential to addressing key social issues. These initiatives include helping children, adults, & elders, encourage health and wellness, physical and emotional care, promote financial stability and self-sufficiency, and crisis intervention.
UWHC also focuses on a much larger spectrum; initiatives such as homelessness all the way to hardworking individuals like ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), men and women of all ages who get up each day to go to work, but aren’t sure if they’ll be able to put dinner on the table each night. 32% of Hernando's population fall into this category and are faced with barriers that we as a community must collectively come together for solutions.
Through these “collective collaborations,” we strategically raise funds through multiple avenues: workplace giving campaigns, grant opportunities, corporate support, give-back events, residential donors, etc., and invest in the places where we live and work to make a stable community for families and businesses.
Our goals are ambitious, but with your help, and by utilizing our core strengths — a national network, committed partners and public engagement capacity — we can achieve them. As we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all.
